A Living Tribute to Heritage, Unity, and Growth

Dorothy Terry’s Community Corner is a vibrant, community-driven space named in honor of Dorothy Terry — a beloved family and neighborhood matriarch whose life embodied the values of heritage, resilience, and cultural pride. Her legacy lives on through this meaningful gathering place, which reflects the spirit of a community deeply connected to its roots and committed to its future.

Founded, maintained, and sponsored by The Price Project who has long-standing ties to the area and community, Dorothy Terry’s Community Corner is more than just a garden — it is a living tribute to the strength and unity of the neighborhood. This space is a collaborative effort dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all who call this community home.

At the heart of the corner is a beautifully cultivated flower and herb garden, designed to offer natural beauty, fragrance, and purpose. Bursting with colorful cut flowers and aromatic herbs, the garden supports pollinators, encourages environmental sustainability, and offers a peaceful retreat for visitors of all ages.

Whether enjoying the sights and scents or engaging in hands-on learning, the garden invites community members to explore nature, wellness, and self-sufficiency.

Dorothy Terry’s Community Corner is guided by a clear mission: to create an inclusive and uplifting space that fosters social connections, environmental stewardship, and lifelong learning. Through intentional design and programming, the corner serves as a hub for community engagement, recreation, and sustainable horticulture.

Our vision for Dorothy Terry’s Community Corner includes:

-Cultivating a welcoming, inclusive environment for residents to gather, connect, and participate in meaningful community activities.

-Offering a variety of workshops and educational programs focused on gardening, sustainability, financial literacy, and other skills that empower individuals and families.

-Promoting green practices and ecological awareness through the ongoing care of our flower and herb garden and other environmentally friendly initiatives.

-Providing a serene and accessible space for recreational activities, relaxation, and connection with nature to support the physical and mental well-being of the community.

-Hosting cultural events, festivals, and social gatherings that celebrate the diversity, creativity, and history of the neighborhood.

Dorothy Terry’s Community Corner stands as a symbol of community pride, resilience, and shared responsibility — a place where growth happens in the soil and in the spirit of the people.
